East Chicago Man Dies After Being Shot In June
An East Chicago man has succumbed to his injuries from a gunshot wound July 23, 2022 while being treated at The University of Chicago, according to The Cook County Medical Examiners Office.
The male has been identified as Julian Valdez, 21, of East Chicago, according to the Medical Examiner.
On June 19th Valdez was shot on the 600 block of Cherry Street in Hammond around 6:45 PM. Witnesses told RNS the male attempted to stop two people who allegedly stole two bikes near Edison Park. During the confrontation one of the suspects shot Valdez in the lower abdomen. Valdez was transported to Community Hospital in Munster and later flown to U of C.
Anyone with information on this homicide is asked to call Hammond Police Detectives.
