ECPD Nab Carjackers Hours After Incident
A search warrant was executed around 4:30 PM, in the 4100 block of Indianapolis Blvd in East Chicago for possible suspects in a carjacking Thursday morning in EC.
The armed carjackers took a vehicle in the 4100 block Magoun from an elderly lady directly behind this residence around 8:45 AM. She was not injured during the encounter. The suspects then crashed into a semi and bailed on foot eluding police.
The East Chicago Police Intelligence Unit investigated this incident through the afternoon tracking the suspects on cameras from before the incident occurred to after the crash leading them to this address. A warrant was signed and Lake County SWAT executed the warrant.
Four subjects were taken into custody during the search of the home.
A witness working on a home in the neighborhood told RNS he watched the suspects get dropped off in a white Hyundai earlier during the initial search this morning and run into the home. At that time they had no idea what was ongoing till this raid and put it together. That Hyundai was also found parked nearby and was reported stolen.
