Elkhart Woman Charged And Arrested After Allegedly Using Nursing Home Resident’s Bank Account To Pay Rent
Chesterton — A 30-year-old Elkhart woman, Andriana Marie Bautista, has been charged and arrested after investigators say she obtained a nursing home resident’s bank account information from a locked drawer while working at Chesterton Manor and used it to pay rent.
According to court documents, on November 6, 2024, Bautista was employed by Eshyft, a temporary certified nursing assistant (CNA) agency, and was working at Chesterton Manor, located at 110 Beverly Drive in Chesterton.
Investigators allege that Bautista accessed a locked drawer at the facility and obtained the victim’s Centier Bank checking account number and routing number. She then allegedly used the information to make an electronic payment of $1,214.37 through AppFolio Inc. for a November 2024 rent payment .
The affidavit states that the fraudulent payment was traced to Bautista after a review of the transaction and identification records confirmed her identity through her Indiana driver’s license.
