Ex-Boyfriend Shoots Female At Intersection In Hobart

On Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at approximately 4:09 AM, Hobart Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of West 3rd Street in reference to a gunshot victim, according to Captain James Gonzales.

While officers were on their way to the address on 3rd Street, dispatch advised them that the gunshot victim had driven herself to a local area hospital for treatment to her injuries.
Once officers arrived at the hospital, they spoke with the victim, who told them she was in the area of the 2000 block of West 3rd Street and she noticed a suspicious vehicle outside of her residence. She explained to the officer that she drove by her residence and continued to drive to the area of Crabapple Lane and Liverpool Road. She stated that while she was at the intersection, she recognized a gold-colored Hyundai Sonata and she knew this vehicle to be the same type of vehicle her ex-boyfriend drove, who she identified as Anthony T. Kirkland. She stated that Anthony approached her vehicle and shot at her vehicle, which she stated she was truck on her arm. She told the officer she drove herself to the hospital for treatment.

While at the hospital, police also observed the victim’s vehicle, which was parked in the parking lot and they observed damage to the vehicle that was consistent with being shot at. The vehicle was towed for evidence processing.

The suspect is identified as Anthony Kirkland, he is 37 years of age and he has an address of 2546 West 13th Street in Gary and he may also frequent the Westville area. The suspect is described as being 6’2″, weighing 345 lbs. with a dark complexion. Mr. Kirkland was last seen driving a gold-colored Hyundai Sonata. 
Mr. Kirkland should be considered armed and dangerous.
