Fallen Hero Escorted Home Friday
On Friday, April 23, 2021, a fallen hero was brought back home to his final resting place.
U.S. Marine Corps Cpl Dylan R Wedel (age 23) was tragically killed in a car accident in North Carolina on April 15th. Dylan grew up in Hobart Indiana but was currently living in North Carolina bravely serving his country as a Marine. Dylan joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 2016 and reported to basic training in early 2017.
Dylan enjoyed the outdoors, working on his truck and spending time with the people that mattered most to him. Dylan was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him especially by his daughter, Charlotte Gene. Dylan will be remembered for many things but most of all, his contagious smile, friends told RNS.
The escort for Dylan started at O’hare Airport then proceeded to Cabela’s in Hammond, and from there the hero was taken to Burns Funeral Home in Crown Point.
The Indiana Patriot Guard Riders, the Unforgotten Souls Motorcycle Club, numerous fire departments & police departments as well as many others came together to make this possible. A celebration of life took place later that night at Festival Park in Hobart.
