Fatal Accident At ArcelorMittal Indiana Harbor
ArcelorMittal Spokesperson has confirmed with Region News that a fatal accident occurred at ArcelorMittal Indiana Harbor, Tuesday afternoon when an employee was struck by a coil tractor.
“The incident is under investigation by ArcelorMittal and United Steelworkers and the appropriate agencies are being notified,” the spokesperson told RNS. The Lake County Coroner has identified the victim as George Salinas, 71, of Gary.

ArcelorMittal strives to ensure every employee returns home from work safely. “We are deeply troubled by today’s incident and will make every effort to understand the cause and take measures to prevent a possible reoccurrence,” the spokesperson told RNS.
