Fatal Accident In Merrillville Being Investigated
On August 12, 2024, at approximately 10:15 A.M., the Merrillville Police Department,
Merrillville Fire Department, and Crown Point Fire Department were dispatched to the 8900 block of Merrillville Road in reference to a single-vehicle crash, according to a press release from Merrillville Police.
Upon arrival, it was determined that a vehicle had driven off the roadway, resulting in
the vehicle striking a tree, and igniting on fire. The sole occupant of the vehicle succumbed to their injuries on the scene. There are no signs of foul play from this tragic incident.
The identity of the deceased has not been released pending the notification of their family.
This incident is being investigated by members of the Merrillville Detective Bureau.
