Fatal Shooting Investigation in Unincorporated St John Township
A 35-year-old man was shot and killed in a domestic disturbance in unincorporated Dyer this evening, according to Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr.
It happened in the 8600 block of Beall Street sometime after 5 p.m. Preliminary information indicates a 35 year old was at the home to visit his child and the child’s mother. There was a dispute where threats were allegedly made against the woman’s mother, Martinez stated. It’s believed a 52-year-old man who owns the home and the 35-year-old man were arguing in the street when the 35-year-old was shot.
He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The 52-year-old man is currently being held for questioning. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
This was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public, Martinez said.
