Gary InnoFuel Fire Seen For Miles
A large industrial fire Wednesday afternoon could be seen for miles as crews from multiple agencies worked to extinguish the flames. The blaze was located at 6480 Industrial Hwy across from The Gary Airport at InnoFuel Energy Services.
The company is a recycling facility with a lot of paper and plastic products according to employees on scene. One employee was transported to a hospital with burns but the injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. Fire crews from Hobart, New Chicago, Hammond, East Chicago, Whiting BP Refinery, and Lake Hills assisted Gary.
Firefighters worked through Wednesday night hitting hot spots. The fire remains under investigation.
