Gary Man Charged With Murder

On November 19, 2025, Charles LeFlore Franklin, 26, of Gary, was charged for the November 17th murder of Arrianna Miles, 26, also of Gary, in the 2400 block of Pennsylvania, according to the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office.

Detective Brian McCall of the Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force and Indiana State Police was able to secure murder charges within 48 hours of the shooting. Franklin and Miles lived together in Gary and shared a child. The shooting occurred after an alleged domestic dispute and involved a sawed off shotgun that was maintained in their residence. Records also indicate that Franklin is also a serious violent felon from a robbery conviction out of Cook County, Illinois and prohibited from possessing any firearms.  

Franklin is charged with Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Domestic Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon, Intimidation, and Domestic Battery, in addition to Felony Firearm Enhancements related to those offenses. He faces upwards of 85 years in prison if convicted. 

Detective McCall was assisted by other members of the Homicide Task Force, including with the Indiana State Police, the East Chicago Police Department, the Gary Police Department, and the Lake County Coroner’s Office. The Lake County Prosecutor’s Office thanks all assisting agencies for their prompt investigation and dedication.  

All defendants are presumed innocent while cases are pending.
