Gary Man Facing Felony Charges After Traffic Stop Leads To Discovery Of Modified Glock And Marijuana

Quaysean Jimmie-Ray Hall, 20, of Gary, is facing multiple felony charges according to court documents after Hobart Police say a traffic stop led to the discovery of a Glock handgun modified to fire as a machine gun and nearly 47 grams of marijuana inside his vehicle.

Police report an officer was on patrol January 29, 2026, when he observed a white SUV with a temporary plate that was obscured near 37th Avenue and Martin Luther Drive.

Police report the officer activated his emergency lights, but the vehicle continued for approximately two blocks before stopping at the intersection of 37th Avenue and Tennessee Street.

As the officer approached the driver’s side, he reported detecting a strong odor of raw marijuana. The officer reported observing three baggies of green leafy substance in plain view under the radio console. During a search of the vehicle, officers located what was described as a “roach” in the ashtray.

Inside the center armrest, in a hidden void that was not fully sealed, officers located a Glock 19 handgun that had a metal switch affixed to the rear of it. The affidavit states the officer recognized through his training and experience that the switch converts the handgun from semi-automatic to fully-automatic, “thus making it a machine gun.”

The recovered green leafy substance weighed a collective 46.91 grams and field-tested positive for marijuana.

Police report Hall later admitted after being advised of his rights that he “fucked up” and did not stop for police right away because he had a gun with a switch. He told police he hid the gun in the center console before stopping in hopes it would not be found. He admitted ownership of the gun and stated he was aware the switch makes the gun fire like a machine gun. He further stated he sells different quantities of marijuana for friends and for himself.

Charges filed January 30,2026:

    •    Possession of a Machine Gun — Level 5 Felony

    •    Obstruction of Justice (Attempt) — Level 6 Felony

    •    Resisting Law Enforcement Using a Vehicle — Level 6 Felony
