Gary Man Kidnaps Teen Girl & Father
A Gary man allegedly kidnapped and raped a 16-year-old girl who was visiting the Jackson’s original home with her father on August 9th around 1:25 PM and now faces 17 charges.
According to an affidavit, the 16-year-old girl was visiting the Jackson’s childhood home located in the 2300 block of Jackson Street in Gary, with her father when a man identified as Oasia Barnes, allegedly approached and put a gun to her body.
Barnes then demanded money in which her father gave him around $300. He then forced the father to drive his vehicle with his daughter and Barnes in the backseat. Barnes allegedly told the father he was going to “blow her brains out” The father told police he repeatedly told Barnes to stop and he allegedly threatened to shoot both of them if they didn’t listen. The father was directed to drive into an alley at the rear of an abandoned house.
The teen told police at the hospital Barnes allegedly forced her to perform oral sex while he held a gun in the abandoned house before grabbing her by the arm to move locations.
Court records state Barnes told her she would be his girlfriend and instructed her to tell him she loved him. Barnes allegedly didn’t believe her and threatened to shoot her toes off “one-by-one until it sounded like she meant it.”
The girl told police that she was forced to walk around a nearby neighborhood and Barnes was telling people she was his new girlfriend. She was then taken to a home on Washington Street after seeing the Lake County Sheriff helicopter. They remained in a basement stairwell until police located them.
Barnes is currently in custody at the Lake County Jail facing 17 charges including:
