Gary Mayor Prince Appoints New Deputy Mayor
Gary Mayor Jerome Prince today announced he is appointing Corporation Counsel, Trent A. McCain as Deputy Mayor. “Gary has not had a deputy mayor in more than eight years, but the position will be a key part of the Administration,” Prince said Tuesday
“Entering our second year, I decided we needed to level up our Administration,” Mayor Prince said. “Attorney McCain is an integral part of our team, and I know he will thrive in his new role.”
Attorney McCain, a lifelong Gary resident, said he looks forward to working closely with all of the City’s departments to move Gary forward.
“I love the City of Gary, and it’s been an honor to serve as its corporation counsel for the past year,” McCain said. “I am thrilled that the Mayor asked me to be his No. 2 and to continue our work in implementing his vision of ‘Reimagining Gary’.”
Mayor Prince said appointing Attorney McCain as deputy mayor is the first in several additional personnel moves in his Administration in the coming days.
“It’s the second quarter, and we are going to make some adjustments to our team on the field,” Mayor Prince said, using a football analogy. “We will do what we can to build the best team for our residents and businesses.
