Gary Parents Charged After Child Flees Home Following Alleged Beatings

Jason Christopher Hall, and Tishiya C. Hall, both of Gary, have been charged in Lake County after their 11-year-old daughter was located in an alley after fleeing their residence following reported physical abuse. Jason is currently wanted on these charges.

According to court documents, Gary police were dispatched February 24, 2026, at approximately 7:00 p.m. to the 4100 block of Jefferson Street in reference to a missing juvenile after the child did not return inside after being sent to clean up trash in the alley behind the residence.

Investigators located the child the following day in the 4300 block alley area while searching abandoned structures. The child ran toward officers and began crying, stating, “please don’t take me back there. My dad beats me.”

The child told investigators she had spent the night in an “abando” (abandoned home) after leaving the residence.

During a recorded interview at the hospital, the child reported she fled after overhearing her father state he was going to “whoop” her again. She stated that on February 19, 2026, after returning home from school, her father entered the home and punched her in the head with a closed fist, knocking her from a chair to the floor, then struck her repeatedly with an extension cord for approximately two hours both inside and outside the home while neighbors yelled for him to stop.

The affidavit states the child reported her father became confrontational with neighbors during the incident and stated he “doesn’t care about the police.”

The child further reported her mother was told about the beating by neighbors and afterward “just sat down in the home and began watching television.”

Investigators documented bruising to the child’s forehead and injuries to both arms consistent with being struck by a cord, with wounds noted in varying stages of healing.

The affidavit states the mother admitted she knew the child received a “whooping” from her father and observed redness and swelling to the child’s face but did not contact police or seek medical care.

A neighbor told police she heard a child screaming and observed Hall “whooping” the child in the yard, swinging at her before pulling her inside while the child screamed, “daddy no, daddy stop.”

When officers attempted to locate Jason Hall on February 25 in the 4100 block of Jefferson Street, he fled on foot and was not located.
