Gary Police Discover Body During A Search Of Abandoned Building
Gary Police Investigators discovered a body of a male Thursday morning during a search of an area shortly after 9 AM according to Lt. Thomas Pawlak of The Gary Police.
Hammond Police along with Gary Police received a tip of a possible location for a missing individual. K-9 teams and ATV’s were brought in to aid in the search of that particular location. The search brought investigators to an area near 1000 N Clark Road around an abandoned industrial area. The search initially started Wednesday but was called off because of night and reconvened Thursday morning in what’s described as a vast area.
A deceased male (male black late teens to early 20’s) was found. The male had what appeared to be gunshot wounds and was declared deceased on scene by the Lake County Coroner’s Office. The victim has now been identified as Marc Burton, 18, of Hammond.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
