Gary Police Discover Man Shot Inside Crashed Vehicle
On January 12, 2020 approximately 10:47 pm the Gary Police Department responded to the area of West 35th Avenue and Fillmore Street for reports vehicle that had struck a tree, Lt. Dawn Westerfield of The Gary Police stated. Upon officers arrival the male had been removed from the vehicle and Gary Fire Department medics were preforming life saving interventions, Westerfield said.
The male was declared deceased on scene by the Lake County Coroners Office. Upon further examination is was discovered the male had suffered an apparent gun shot wound. The victim now identified as Marcelis Stevenson, 21, of Gary by the Lake County Coroner. This is Gary’s 4th Homicide of 2020.
