Gary Police Investigate Shooting at McDonald’s on 5th Avenue
GARY – On November 22, 2025, the Gary Police Department responded to a call from McDonald’s located at 1527 W. 5th Avenue regarding a male gunshot victim.
Upon arrival, officers found a 28-year-old male from Gary in the lobby of the establishment, suffering from a gunshot wound to the back and in need of immediate medical attention.
Officers promptly provided first aid to the victim until the Gary Fire Department arrived, while also initiating a search for potential suspects in the surrounding area.
The victim was subsequently transported to Methodist Northlake Hospital and later transferred to the University of Chicago for advanced medical care. Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident was the result of an apparent robbery.

Investigators are actively gathering information, identifying all parties involved, and determining the circumstances of the event.
