Gary Police Investigating Homicide Behind Broadway Liquor Store
Wednesday at 10:31 p.m., Gary Police Officers were dispatched to Economy Package Liquors at 5150 Broadway, for a welfare check, according to Gary Police.
Before arrival, the reporting party, a customer, reported that a male was unresponsive in the alley behind the business.
Upon arrival, Officers located the male, later identified as Shantwoin Jones, in the alley unresponsive. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim suffered blunt force trauma, based on the evidence observed and collected at scene.
The Lake County Coroner ruled the death a homicide by blunt force trauma. Jones age 52, resided in Gary.
Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force will be investigating and Detective Morgan Salazar has been assigned lead detective. If anyone has any information regarding this matter they are asked to contact Detective Salazar at 219-755-3855.
