Gary Police Investigating Murder-Suicide
On Sunday, October 2, 2022, at approximately 4:43 PM, the Gary Police Department received a call for service reference a male victim bleeding from a gunshot wound to his head at 2600 Jackson Street, in Gary, according to Commander Jack Hamady.
Officers arrived on scene and located the male gun shot victim on the front porch of the residence. Gary Fire Department arrived on scene and began treating the male for his wound. While on scene officers were notified of a possible second unresponsive female in the back room of this abandon residence. Officers made entry and discovered an unresponsive female inside a bedroom. At that time Gary Fire Department checked the vital signs and advised the female was lifeless.
Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified, Gary/Lake County Metro Homicide and Lake County CSI were called to the scene.
The Lake County Coroner has identified the victim as April King, 50, of Cedar Lake. Kings death has been ruled a homicide.
This incident is being investigated by Metro Homicide and preliminary investigation appears this is an isolated incident and a murder suicide attempt, Hamady told RNS.
