Gary Police Investigating Overnight Homicide
Gary Police were dispatched to shots fired with a male struck by gunfire outside of a home on the 2300 block of Colfax Thursday night around 11:25pm, according to Commander Jack Hamady of The Gary Police. Officers arrived and found a male bleeding and females screaming that a vehicle opened fire on the residence. The victim now identified as Landen Cowart, 38, succumbed to his injuries on scene.
The house was also struck multiple times by bullets. Shell casings were found on 23rd near the corner of Colfax where police could be seen placing evidence markers. This appears to be an isolated incident.
