Gary Police Investigating Shooting
On March 8, 2021 approximately 3:05 PM Gary officers responded to the area of 20th Ave and Lane Street as well as the 4200 block of West 19th Plaza for a gunshot victim and a crashed vehicle, according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield of the Gary Police.
Officers were able to link the two incidents. The parties in the vehicle that crashed stated they had been driving when an unknown male opened fire on their car. In their attempt to get away, lost control of the vehicle and crashed. The driver (19-year-old male from Gary) and front seat passenger (19-year-old female from Gary) were not injured. The back seat passenger (15-year-old female from Gary) sustained graze wounds to the stomach and neck. She denied medical attention on scene and was released to her mother.
