Gary Woman Charged After Parking Dispute Leads to Gunfire
A Gary woman has been charged after police say she fired a gun during an argument with a neighbor over parking spaces, striking the neighbor’s residence while children were inside.
According to court documents, on August 9, 2025, Gary police were called to a residence on W. 7th Place for a disturbance with shots fired. The caller reported that a female in a white Chevrolet Malibu pulled a gun and fired a round.
Police spoke with the witness, who stated that her neighbor, identified as Niaysha Rena Fuller, exited her residence with a handgun and discharged one round. The dispute began over parking spaces and escalated after words were exchanged with another resident. The witness told police that Fuller fired a shot and then stood outside her front window with the other resident, yelling for her to come outside. Four minor children were inside the apartment at the time.
Officers reported locating a spent 9mm shell casing on the sidewalk in front of Fuller’s residence and a fresh bullet hole in the siding of the witness’s residence. Police say Fuller initially denied firing the gun but later admitted to discharging one round. The firearm, a black and green Canik METE mc9 9mm, was recovered along with the magazine, which was missing one live round.
Witnesses told police they heard a gunshot and then saw Fuller and the other resident outside the witness’s window yelling for her to come outside.
