Griffith Police Investigating Sunday Homicide
Detectives of the Griffith Police Department, the Northwest Indiana Major Crimes Task Force, and the Indiana State Police are investigating the death of a male subject, according to Commander Keith Martin of The Griffith Police.
Police were called to the area of the 1900 block of Park West Boulevard in Griffith at about 5AM on Sunday morning, October 25th, in reference to an anonymous caller stating that she observed a subject lying on the ground in the area. Upon the arrival of police, the man was located between the parking lot and apartment building at that location, Martin stated. Emergency personnel on scene discovered that the man was deceased and appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Spent shell casings were recovered from the scene as well as other evidence.
The victim has been identified as Preston Billings, 30, of Chicago by The Lake County Coroner.
