Griffith Police Respond To Reported Damage From An Overnight Shooting
A Griffith resident reported vehicle damage from an overnight shooting Thursday morning according to Griffith Police. Griffith Police were dispatched shortly before 7am to the 500 block of W. Pine St for damage to the back of a SUV that was parked in the complainants driveway. Police said on arrival they observed numerous apparent bullet holes of possible different calibers on the SUV. There were no injuries reported according to a report.
Commander Keith Martin of the Griffith Police stated they received no calls for shots fired the previous night but when canvassing the neighborhood on Thursday morning neighbors heard what sounded like multiple gun shots in the evening hours. Griffith officers did recover evidence at the scene and obtained video from the area. The owner of the SUV told police he was involved in a heated altercation with a known subject earlier Wednesday. That altercation as well as other motives are currently being investigated, Martin told RNS.
