Guest at Valparaiso Home Faces Felony After Reported Inappropriate Conduct
VALPARAISO — A 55-year-old Illinois man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after a woman reported he touched her inappropriately during a conversation about religion and abortion, and authorities later found unprescribed Adderall during a jail intake search.
According to a probable cause affidavit, officers were dispatched to a residence on Sharon Boulevard in Valparaiso on August 1, 2025, after a report that a man, identified as Robert Edward Allen, was intoxicated and refusing to leave. Officers learned that Allen had been invited to the home the previous night by the homeowner. Allen did not live at the residence.
While one officer was speaking with Allen, another officer spoke with a woman at the scene. She stated that Allen had been preaching to those present about Christianity and abortion. She said Allen was sitting in front of her on a small footrest when he placed his hand on the inside of her right thigh. She told him, “Stop fucking touching me,” but Allen continued speaking. The woman then reported that Allen leaned over her while she was sitting in a recliner, attempted to kiss her, and when she turned her head away, he kissed her neck. She told him again not to touch her, and he backed away.
Allen was taken into custody and transported to the Porter County Jail. During the intake search, an orange oval pill stamped “B973” was found in his wallet. Without being questioned, Allen reportedly said, “Oh yeah that’s Adderall.”
Charges filed August 4, 2025:
• Sexual Battery — Level 6 Felony
• Possession of a Controlled Substance (Schedule II – Adderall, Unprescribed) — Class A Misdemeanor
Allen is currently lodged in the Porter County Jail.
