Gunfire Exchanged On Bishop Ford Resulting In One Dead
Illinois State Police (ISP) officials are investigating a shooting, which occurred on Interstate 94 northbound south of Steel Bridge (138th Street), at approximately 10:17 a.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021.
Preliminary reports indicate two vehicles were traveling on Interstate 94 northbound south of the Steel Bridge (138th Street) and for unknown reasons, exchanged gunfire. One of the vehicles lost control, struck the wall and overturned onto the driver side. The male driver from the overturned vehicle was transported to a local area hospital with life threatening injuries and later succumbed to his injuries. Two additional passengers, a 23-year-old female and four-year-old female did not sustain any injuries. The male driver from the second vehicle was transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
At approximately 10:35 a.m., the right two lanes were closed for the investigation. At approximately 12:06 p.m., all lanes of Interstate 94 northbound at Sibley Blvd. were closed with all traffic diverted off at Sibley Blvd. At approximately 2:30 p.m., all lanes were opened. The events surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
