Hakeem Pittman Sentenced to 67 Years in Indiana Department of Corrections Following Child Molesting Convictions
CROWN POINT — Hakeem Pittman has been sentenced to 67 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections after being found guilty by a Lake County jury on multiple felony charges stemming from a child molestation investigation.
The sentencing was handed down in Lake County Superior Court.
Pittman was convicted of the following offenses:
• Count I: Child Molesting (Level 1 Felony)
• Count II: Child Molesting (Level 1 Felony)
• Count III: Child Molesting (Level 1 Felony)
• Count IV: Sexual Misconduct with a Minor (Level 5 Felony)
At sentencing, the court imposed 32 years on Count I, 32 years on Count II, and 3 years on Count IV, resulting in a total executed sentence of 67 years.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the investigation began on April 26, 2024, when officers with the East Chicago Police Department responded to a report of juvenile molestation.
Police were advised that a juvenile female disclosed to her mother that she had been subjected to ongoing sexual abuse at a residence in East Chicago. Officers documented that the mother was visibly distressed while reporting the allegations.
Officers were provided access to electronic communications allegedly sent from Pittman to the juvenile. Investigators reported the messages contained sexually explicit content, solicitations, and requests that prior messages be deleted.
The juvenile victim later participated in a forensic interview with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. According to investigators, she provided detailed statements describing multiple incidents of sexual abuse occurring over an extended period beginning when she was 12 years old.
Officers located Pittman inside the residence identified in the report and took him into custody. According to court documents, Pittman declined to provide a statement to detectives.
Following a jury trial in Lake County Superior Court, Pittman was found guilty on multiple Level 1 felony counts of Child Molesting and one Level 5 felony count of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor.
The court subsequently imposed a total sentence of 67 years to be served in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
