Hammond Issues Curfew
For public safety reasons, Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr. has enacted a Citywide curfew for May 31st at 9:00 pm to June 1st at 6:00 am.
It will be unlawful for any person to be on any Hammond city street during the hours of this curfew.
It will be unlawful for any person to loiter or remain in a motor vehicle, or place of business during the hours of this curfew.
The Hammond Police Department retains the right to cite or arrest, if necessary, anyone who willfully disobeys this order.
This order does not affect essential workers, or anyone going to work, or to their homes lawfully.
