HAMMOND & LYNWOOD MAN NABBED BY BURGLARY TASK FORCE; WEAPONS AND STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED
MIDLOTHIAN, IL – Two suspects were arrested early Wednesday morning after police responded to a burglary in progress at a Midlothian café, leading to a crash, a perimeter search, and the recovery of firearms and burglary tools.
According to the Midlothian Police Department, officers were dispatched around 4:30 a.m. on March 4 to Anna’s Café, located at 4459 W. 147th Street, after receiving a report of a burglary in progress.
When officers arrived, they observed multiple masked suspects exiting the business and entering two separate vehicles, which were later determined to be stolen. Police also identified a third vehicle acting as a lookout at a nearby corner.
One of the stolen vehicles attempted to flee but crashed into a parked car near 150th Street and Kilbourn Avenue. The suspects then ran from the vehicle on foot, prompting officers to establish a perimeter in the area.
Meanwhile, the two other vehicles fled the scene, leading officers from neighboring jurisdictions on a pursuit. Authorities ultimately discontinued the chase due to the reckless and erratic driving of the suspects.
Officers assigned to a recently formed Burglary Task Force quickly responded to assist with the search. Law enforcement deployed drones and K-9 units, eventually locating and arresting two of the three suspects who fled on foot.
Inside the crashed stolen vehicle, investigators recovered sledgehammers and two loaded handguns equipped with extended magazines, according to police.
The suspects were identified as:
• Christian Streeter, 19, of Lynwood, Illinois
• Amarion Mayo, 20, of Hammond, Indiana
Authorities say Amarion Mayo is charged with:
• Burglary
• Criminal Damage to Property ($10,000–$100,000)
• Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
• Aggravated Fleeing to Elude
• Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon
• Resisting a Peace Officer
Christian Streeter faces charges of:

• Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon
• Criminal Trespass to a Motor Vehicle

Police say the investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to identify and locate the remaining suspects involved in the burglary.
According to Midlothian Police Chief Daniel Delaney, the department recently joined a regional Burglary Task Force created to address a surge in burglaries targeting gaming establishments throughout the Chicagoland area.
Authorities report that hundreds of burglaries have occurred at gaming facilities over the past year, causing millions of dollars in losses and damages. Investigators say suspects commonly use stolen vehicles, wear masks and gloves, and drive recklessly to evade police.
The task force includes officers from the Cook County Sheriff’s Department, Posen Police Department, Alsip Police Department, Oak Lawn Police Department, Blue Island Police Department, Markham Police Department, Dixmoor Police Department, Tinley Park Police Department, and Midlothian Police Department, along with agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Chief Delaney praised the coordinated response from officers, detectives, dispatchers, and assisting agencies, saying their professionalism and teamwork helped quickly locate and apprehend the suspects involved.
