Hammond Man Charged With Multiple Felony Drug Offenses Following Search Warrant

A 43-year-old Hammond man, Jeffery Boylett Jr., is facing multiple felony drug charges following a narcotics investigation that resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Hammond.

According to court documents, investigators conducted an investigation into suspected drug activity at a residence located in the 1000 block of May Street in Hammond during March, April, and May 2025. Based on evidence developed during the investigation, police obtained a search warrant for the residence, which was executed on May 14, 2025.

During the search, officers located a basement bedroom identified as belonging to Boylett. Mail addressed to Boylett was found in the bedroom, and another occupant on scene advised police that Boylett resided in the basement bedroom. Inside the room, officers recovered U.S. currency totaling $575, along with multiple controlled substances packaged in various baggies.

Police reported locating:

    •    Pills weighing 15.91 grams that field-tested positive for MDMA (ecstasy) and fentanyl

    •    A brown and gray powder substance weighing 8.68 grams that field-tested positive for heroin

    •    Eleven individually packaged baggies containing a rock-like substance weighing 4.93 grams, field-testing positive for cocaine and fentanyl

    •    An additional bag of rock-like substance weighing 11.22 grams, field-testing positive for cocaine and fentanyl

    •    Two additional baggies located inside a shoe containing powder and rock-like substances weighing a combined 57.3 grams, field-testing positive for cocaine and fentanyl

Investigators noted in court filings that the quantity of cocaine and fentanyl recovered meets the legal threshold under Indiana law for possession with intent to deliver.

Lodged in the Lake County Jail on January 4,2026.

    •    Dealing in Cocaine (Level 2 Felony) – Possession with intent, over 10 grams

    •    Dealing in a Narcotic Drug (Level 2 Felony) – Possession with intent, over 10 grams

    •    Dealing in Cocaine (Level 3 Felony) – Between 5 and 10 grams

    •    Dealing in a Narcotic Drug (Level 3 Felony) – Between 5 and 10 grams

    •    Dealing in Cocaine (Level 4 Felony) – Between 1 and 5 grams (two counts)

    •    Possession of a Narcotic Drug (Level 5 Felony) – Between 5 and 10 grams

    •    Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Level 6 Felony) – Controlled substances

    •    Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class A Misdemeanor)
