Hammond Murder Suspect Taken Into Custody
In a joint effort, the Hammond Police Department and the US Marshals Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force successfully took a 21-year-old male into custody in Chicago earlier today. The arrest was made in connection with a Felony Murder warrant issued on August 7, 2023. The warrant, issued under a sealed indictment, is linked to the tragic death of 18-year-old Alyssa Flores.
Alyssa Flores was discovered unresponsive by her father in their residence on Towle Avenue in Hammond on October 18, 2021. Her failure to report to work and respond to calls raised concerns, leading to the heartbreaking discovery.
Due to the sealed nature of the indictment, the identity of the arrested individual and specific details regarding the charges are not being disclosed at this time. Chief William Short of the Hammond Police Department expressed his condolences to the family of Alyssa Flores, stating, “Our thoughts are with the Flores family during this difficult time. We are committed to seeking justice for Alyssa and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.”
The collaboration between the Hammond Police Department and the US Marshals Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force underscores their dedication to investigating this case thoroughly. As the legal proceedings progress, further updates will be shared with the public.
