Hammond Police Department Investigating Shooting at Olympia Lanes Bowling Alley
On Sunday, September 22, at approximately 7:45 PM, Hammond Police officers were dispatched to Olympia Lanes bowling alley located in the 4100 block of Calumet Ave. in response to a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 37-year-old male from Chicago had been shot multiple times following an altercation with unknown individuals, according to Hammond Police.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim, who was bowling with his family at the time of the incident, became involved in a confrontation with two unidentified black males. The two suspects opened fire, striking the 37-year-old man several times. A 31-year-old female, also at the scene, was hit in the leg. She was treated for minor injuries and later released from the hospital. The male victim was transported to a hospital in Chicago, where he remains in serious condition.
The suspects are believed to have been attending a baby shower held at the bowling alley during the time of the shooting.
