On Monday, May 9, 2022 at approximately 2:00 p.m., Hammond Police were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of Truman Street in reference to a subject that had been shot, according to Lt. Steve Kellogg of The Hammond Police.
Police arrived and located a 20-year-old male who had been shot in the chest. The Hammond Fire Department arrived and transported the male to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased upon arrival. The subject was identified as Frank E. Koonce Jr. of Hammond.
