Hammond Police Investigating Homicide
On Saturday, September 14, 2024, at approximately 6:00 PM, Hammond Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting outside a residence in the 400 block of Huehn, according to Hammond Police.
Neighbors in the area told RNS they reported hearing 4 shots and then 2 more seconds later as a woman was screaming.
Hammond Police said, two subjects, a 20-year-old male and a 20-year-old female, were sitting in a vehicle parked outside their home. While in their vehicle an unknown individual approached and opened fire into the car. The male was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female was transported by helicopter to a local hospital in serious condition.
The investigation is ongoing, and police will provide additional information as it becomes available. No further details are available for release.
