Hammond Police Pursue Vehicle Into Lansing

On Sunday, July 19th, at approximately 6:55 p.m., Hammond Police attempted to stop a vehicle who had committed multiple traffic violations along Hohman Ave, according to Lt. Steve Kellogg of the Hammond Police.

A blue SUV refused to stop for Hammond Officers and drove into Lansing, Illinois from Ridge Rd in Munster. Hammond Police observed the vehicle in the backyard of a residence near Myrtle & Central in Lansing and noticed that the vehicle came to rest striking a fence with one tire hanging over a small cement wall.

Hammond Police apprehended the 20-year-old male without further incident or injuries. The suspect was checked out on scene for back pain from the accident by Lansing Fire Department. An AR-15 rifle was located inside of the vehicle, Kellogg stated. Charges are currently pending and will be updated when made available.
