Hammond School Bus Monitor Tests Positive For COVID-19 Is Also The Community Hospital Patient
City of Hammond School officials have released a statement saying a school bus monitor has tested positive for COVID-19. The school bus monitor last worked on Tuesday 3/10/2020 and was involved with a small group of students from Area Career Center, Eggers, and Edgewater in Gary.
The spouse of the bus monitor is also a bus driver from the School City of Hammond. The spouse has not been tested due to the lack of test kits but is quarantined for 14 days. The spouse has routes on bus #146 to Scott Middle School and Maywood as recently as of last Friday. Letters were sent home to students parents on these routes School City of Hammond said in a release Tuesday.
The school emphasized just because a child was on that bus doesn’t mean they were infected but should be closely monitored and highly recommended that they contact their health provider for a follow up and recommendations.
UPDATE – Region News has learned the bus monitor from this story is being treated at Community in Munster. The bus monitor is the Hobart Church Pastors wife. The pastor also the other employee for the school is quarantining himself with no symptoms currently.
