HAMMOND SWAT NABS ONE OF LAKE COUNTY’S MOST WANTED

On February 4, 2025, at approximately 11:30 AM, Hammond Police responded to the 6400 block of New Hampshire in reference to a SWAT call-out, according to Hammond Police.

James Robert Elliott, who was added to Lake County’s Most Wanted list was seen entering a residence upon officers’ arrival. Elliott, who was wanted on a domestic / criminal confinement warrant out of Lake County and a federal probation violation, had recently removed his ankle monitor. Federal law enforcement had made multiple attempts to locate him prior to today’s incident, Hammond Police said.

Negotiators attempted to engage Elliott for two hours before SWAT entered the residence and took him into custody without further incident.

The situation has been resolved, and there is no ongoing threat to the community, police said. The Hammond Police Department appreciated the public’s cooperation during the operation.
