Hammond SWAT Takes One In Custody Sunday
On October 25th, at approximately 8:20 a.m., Hammond police were dispatched to a home in the 7000 block of California Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance, according to Lt. Steve Kellogg of the Hammond Police.
Police arrived and were advised that a 22-year-old female was being held against her will inside the residence. The female was able to leave the residence and was checked by Hammond Medics. Police were told that the male refused to exit the residence and may be in possession of a firearm, Kellogg stated.
Hammond SWAT and Hostage Negotiators were called to the scene. At approximately 10:25 a.m., Negotiators were able to peacefully negotiate the surrender of the male without harm. The 25-year-old male was arrested for active warrants out of Lake County, IN.
