Head of Gary Housing Charged with Strangulation and Domestic Battery
Taryl Lamarr Bonds, 52, of Gary, has been charged in Lake County with two counts of strangulation and two counts of domestic battery following a disturbance in Gary on June 20, 2025.
According to court documents, Gary police responded to a disturbance around 1:51 a.m. at a home on Ellsworth Street. The incident reportedly began in the kitchen and escalated into a physical confrontation.
Officers observed visible injuries to two individuals. One had pink and red scratch marks on her neck and scrapes on her knees and legs from the fall. The second had bruises on both of her biceps and redness on her neck.
Bonds was detained without incident and is currently lodged in the Lake County Jail.

- Strangulation (2 counts) – Level 6 Felony
- Domestic Battery (2 counts) – Class A Misdemeanor
