Hobart Couple Accused Of Meth Dealing After Drug Deals Lead To Search Warrant
Katlin Rose Lee, 28, and Jonathon Michael Coffing, 33, both of Hobart, are facing felony charges after police say drug deals taking place between March 8 and March 14, 2026 led investigators to obtain a search warrant and uncover methamphetamine, a firearm, and drug paraphernalia inside a residence in the 500 block of East 37th Avenue.
According to court documents, during that time period a drug deal occurred at the residence involving approximately 0.3 grams of methamphetamine.
Based on the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for the home, which was executed on March 18, 2026. Authorities reported that occupants inside initially ignored repeated commands to open the door, resulting in forced entry.
Inside a bedroom, officers located Lee and Coffing. Police say Coffing immediately told officers there was methamphetamine inside a safe in the room.
A search of the safe allegedly revealed:
• Approximately 17.2 grams of methamphetamine
• 2.8 grams of marijuana
• Pills identified as Xanax (Alprazolam) and Buprenorphine
• A black digital scale
• Packaging materials including Ziploc baggies
• Multiple glass pipes commonly used to ingest drugs
• A .22 caliber handgun
• Identification belonging to Lee and paperwork tied to Coffing
Investigators noted the amount of methamphetamine, along with the presence of scales, packaging materials, and a firearm, was indicative of dealing.
During interviews, Coffing admitted he lived at the residence and stated he “runs to get methamphetamine for anyone that pitches money in,” but denied being a dealer. Lee told police she was not a dealer and has never sold drugs, though investigators noted she was identified as the person involved in the drug deal.
Both suspects are lodged in the Lake County Jail.
