Hobart Man Charged With Child Solicitation
Chesterton- Devin Michael Bazzetta, 20, of Hobart, has been charged after police say he traveled to meet what he believed was a 13-year-old girl following sexually explicit online conversations.
According to court documents, a detective with the Chesterton Police Department was contacted on October 3, 2025, after officers responded to a report at a Dunkin’ Donuts in Chesterton involving a suspected case of child solicitation. The report originated from a member of the Northwest Indiana Predator Catchers, who told police that Bazzetta had been communicating with someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.
Investigators reviewed the messages, which allegedly showed Bazzetta engaging in sexually explicit conversations, asking for nude photographs, and arranging to meet in person. The conversations also included references to sexual activity and alcohol.
When questioned, Bazzetta admitted that he had asked for nude photographs but claimed he was “just joking around” and only intended to hang out. Detectives noted that the messages and his travel to the meeting location indicated otherwise.
Charges filed October 6, 2025:
• Child Solicitation (F4 – Felony 4)
• Child Solicitation (F5 – Felony 5)
Bazzetta was lodged in the Porter County Jail following the incident.
