Hobart Man Nabbed On Nationwide Warrants
On August 3rd at approximately 10:50 a.m., Indiana State Trooper Carlson was stationary on US-41 near County Road 825 S. when he observed a gold Toyota Corolla traveling southbound at a high rate of speed, according to Sgt. Glen Fifield. After checking the vehicle’s speed at 77 mph in a posted 60 mph zone, a traffic stop was conducted north of State Road 16. The driver was identified as Christopher Trammell, 25, from Hobart, Indiana.
During the traffic stop, it was determined that Mr. Trammell had two active nationwide extradition warrants through Atlanta, Georgia. The first warrant was for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and the second was for being in possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of a felony. Mr. Trammell was also found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended license with a prior conviction through the state of Indiana. A loaded handgun with an extended magazine was also located inside the vehicle.
Mr. Trammell was incarcerated at the Newton County Jail. He is preliminarily charged in Newton County with Driving While Suspended (Prior Conviction) – Class A Misdemeanor.
Mr. Trammell will be extradited to Georgia for the following warrants:
- Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
- Possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony
All persons named in this release are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court. All charges mentioned are merely accusations, actual charges will be determined by the Newton County Prosecutor’s Office.
