Hobart Police Rescue Female Out Of House Fire Monday

Around 9pm Hobart Fire & Police were dispatched to a Structure Fire in a Three-Seasons room at a residence with a person stuck inside on the 3400 block of E 73rd Ave. The resident called in the fire after smoke detectors alerted them to the fire however after exiting the home she went back in for her dog.

Hobart Police arrived first on scene while dispatchers were talking to a female resident who went back into the house to save a dog. The female was able to find her dog but became trapped inside the bedroom due to smoke and fire, according to radio traffic. A Hobart Police Officer attempted to make entry but the smoke was to thick. A second officer arrived and used an extinguisher to minimize flames to get in through the back and help the resident and dog out of the home. The animals are in good condition according to Fire Officials.

Firefighters had the fire struck within about 20 minutes and Medics were treating a resident on scene. Merrillville Fire Department assisted with Mutual Aid. No further information was available Monday night.
