Hobart Police Seek To Identify Vandal

The Hobart Police Department has responded to approximately 12 calls involving property being vandalized with spray paint between March 7 and March 9, 2021, furthermore the vandalism occurred during the evening hours between March 7 and March 9, according to Captain James Gonzales.

Unknown suspects spray painted various symbols on vehicles, brick buildings, garbage dumpsters, business signs and utility boxes, Gonzales stated. Most of the mischief occurred in and around the downtown area of Hobart, but there was property also vandalized on the 2300 block of Old Ridge Road and on the 3900 block of Montgomery Street.

Some of the victims have been able to remove the spray paint from their property, but some of the spray paint isn’t able to be removed and the cost to remove and repair the property is expected to exceed $2000.00 dollars.

Detectives are currently reviewing surveillance video from the area where these mischiefs took place, and it appears that the subjects responsible for the mischiefs were skateboarding in the downtown area of Hobart, Gonzales told RNS.

The surveillance image shown is what appears to be a male white in his teens, the photo shows him carrying a can of spray paint. Detectives are attempting to identify the subject shown in the surveillance video.
