Homicide Investigation Underway After Man Found Shot on Drummond Street

East Chicago — East Chicago Police are investigating a deadly shooting early Tuesday morning after officers were alerted to a gunshot in a neighborhood.

According to East Chicago Police Chief Jose Rivera, around 2:30 a.m. on November 25, 2025, officers were flagged down by a passerby who reported hearing a single gunshot near the 4800 block of Drummond Street. When officers arrived, they discovered a male victim lying on the sidewalk in front of 4759 Drummond Street.

The man had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head and was found unconscious and not breathing. Medics arrived shortly after and pronounced him deceased at the scene.

The victim has not yet been identified.

The Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force was notified and responded to assist in the investigation. The Lake County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene, while the Lake County Coroner’s Office took possession of the victim.

Chief Rivera says the case remains active and ongoing. No suspect information or further details are being released at this time.
