Human Skeletal Remains Found In Hammond
On Tuesday, March 10th, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Hammond Police Department received a call in reference to possible human skeletal remains found off of Marble Street near State Line Avenue, Lt. Steve Kellogg of The Hammond Police told RNS. The location is a secluded wooded / wetland area off railroad tracks located behind Djuric Trucking on Hohman & Sheffield.
Officers arrived and spoke with a reporting person who stated he was walking his dog and came across the remains near a wooded path. Officers were able to identify the skeletal remains as human, Kellogg said. The Lake County Coroner arrived around 6:45pm. A death investigation into the identity of the individual, and cause of death, is on-going. An exact age of the remains has yet to be determined. More information will be released as it becomes available, Kellogg stated.
