Illinois State Police Arrest Merrillville Man For E-Way Shooting
Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Agents arrested and charged Mark A. Rogers II, a 27 year old male of Merrillville, IN, for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.
On July 21, 2020, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the ISP District Chicago Telecommunications centerreceived a call from a victim who stated his vehicle was shot while traveling on Interstate 80 westbound at Illinois 394 during a road rage incident. ISP District Chicago Troopers responded to a local truck weigh station and spoke with the victim. The male driver and sole occupant of the victim vehicle did not sustain any injuries. The victim provided ISP District Chicago Troopers with information identifying the offender and the offending vehicle.
ISP DCI Agents initiated an investigation that culminated in the arrest of Rogers for the offense of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. On July 24, 2020, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Rogers was taken into custody without incident by ISP DCI Agents.
On July 24, 2020, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office approved one charge of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony) against Rogers with his bond set at $10,000, 10% to apply. Rogers remains in custody at the Cook County Jail. The investigation is open and ongoing.
