Illinois State Police Investigating Another Expressway Shooting
Illinois State Police (ISP) officials are investigating a shooting, which occurred on Interstate 94 southbound north of 115th Street, at approximately 12:10 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021.
On Feb. 12, 2021, at approximately 12:15 a.m., an ISP officer located an abandoned vehicle that appeared to have been involved in a crash, west of Interstate 94 near 115th Street. A Short time later, ISP officers learned the driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 19-year-old male of Chicago, IL just reported he was involved in an expressway shooting and was at a nearby restaurant in the 600 block of E. 115th Street. The driver was transported to a local area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained by debris caused by gunfire.
Preliminary reports indicate the victim vehicle was traveling on Interstate 94 southbound north of 115th Street when his vehicle was struck by gunfire. The shots were fired from a white sedan also traveling at that location. The driver of the victim vehicle exited westbound onto 115th street and crashed just west of Doty Road as a result of the incident. The events surrounding the shooting remain under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
