Indiana State Police Seize Significant Quantities of Illegal Drugs Off Traffic Stops
Two separate traffic stops by Indiana State Police made yesterday have netted significant quantities of drugs seized which resulted in three people arrested. Both arrests were made by a special task force out of Lowell Post called the All Crimes Policing (ACP), according to Corporal Eric Rot.
The first arrest came off a traffic stop for a traffic violation on I94 at the 28 mile marker near Chesterton exit. A task force member observed Dionte Johnson, 34, of San Antonio, Texas, driving a white Nissan Sentra eastbound on I94. After being stopped for a traffic violation, the driver, Mr. Johnson, gave consent for his vehicle to be searched. The search found 3.5 lbs of cocaine concealed in the vehicle. Mr. Johnson was arrested and transported to Porter County jail on the following charges:
Level 2 Dealing Cocaine/Narcotic Drug
Level 3 Felony Possession of Cocaine/Narcotic Drug
The second arrest also stemmed from a traffic stop made by a ACP task force member. Kennedy Trammell, 29, of Detroit, Michigan, was seen driving a black Chrysler Town and Country passenger van westbound on I94. After being stopped for a traffic violation, Mr. Trammell was arrested for a warrant through Michigan. The passenger of the vehicle, Mokenzi Wilson, 20, of Las Vegas, Nevada, was arrested for possession of illegal drugs. A further search of the vehicle discovered additional narcotics belonging to the driver, Mr. Trammell. Both individuals were arrested and taken to LaPorte County jail on the following charges:
Kennedy Trammell, Level 6 Felony – Possession of Narcotic Drug
Mokenzi Wilson, Level 6 Felony – Possession of Narcotic Drug
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
