ISP & DEA Make Huge Bust In Munster

On July 8, 2020, the Indiana State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)/Lake County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force interdicted approximately 12 pounds of methamphetamine in Munster, Indiana, according to Sgt. Glen Fifield of the Indiana State Police.  The shipment was destined to the Chicagoland/Northwest Indiana area.  The drugs were coming from the El Paso, Texas area, Fifield stated in a release Thursday.

Sgt. Joe Gawor stated, “The Indiana State Police remain vigilant in our efforts to remove dangerous drugs from our communities.  We are proud to partner with the DEA and the HIDTA Task Force in order to accomplish these ongoing efforts in the face of the COVID-19 Pandemic.”  Michael Gannon, the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Indianapolis District Office remarked, “The DEA is committed to working with our law enforcement partners and targeting criminal organizations who are bringing poison into our communities. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic these criminal organizations are continuously trying to flood our communities with methamphetamine. The DEA will continue to aggressively utilize all available resources provided by the HIDTA to combat these drug trafficking organizations.”
